Itinerary Day By Day
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your guide will warmly welcome you with a cheerful “Karibu Tanzania – welcome to Tanzania!” You will be transferred directly to your hotel, where you can unwind and soak in the vibrant African atmosphere. The following day, embark on a private, exclusive safari at your own pace. Travel in the comfort and luxury of your personal safari jeep, pausing whenever you wish to observe wildlife in their natural habitat. This experience combines adventure, flexibility, and comfort, creating a memorable introduction to Tanzania’s incredible landscapes and wildlife.
Day 2: Mkomazi National Park + Mkomazi – Mbula Rhino Sanctuary
Mikumi National Park, Tanzania’s fourth largest, is located just a six-hour drive from Dar es Salaam. Its vast open plains and abundant wildlife often draw comparisons to the iconic Serengeti, yet its proximity to the city makes it more easily accessible for travellers seeking a memorable safari experience. The park boasts a rich diversity of animals. Elephants, buffalos, zebras, and giraffes are commonly seen, while lions can often be observed in their natural habitats. Don’t miss the resident hippo pool, where dozens of hippos lounge and wallow in the water. With wide horizons and remarkable wildlife encounters, Mikumi offers a genuine taste of Tanzania’s wild heart.
Mkomazi – Mbula Rhino Sanctuary
The Mbula Rhino Sanctuary, located inside Mkomazi National Park, offers a rare opportunity to see endangered black rhinos up close. After their reintroduction in the 1990s, the population has grown steadily, and today more than 35 rhinos roam safely within this protected area. Visitors enter the sanctuary in a park-operated open safari vehicle, accompanied by an experienced ranger. These rangers monitor the rhinos daily and know their preferred locations, increasing your chances of a memorable sighting. With a bit of luck, you may even watch these impressive creatures approach the vehicle an unforgettable encounter that highlights the success of Tanzania’s rhino conservation efforts.
Day 3: Western Usambara Mountains
The Western Usambara Mountains, located south of Mkomazi National Park, offer a lush, green escape with a cool, refreshing climate perfect for hiking enthusiasts. Explore rolling hills, cascading waterfalls, fertile farmland, plantations, charming villages, and vibrant local markets, with stunning views at nearly every turn. Guided hikes allow you to discover an array of colorful flowers, butterflies, chameleons, and fruit trees while soaking in panoramic vistas of the expansive plains beyond the mountains. Accommodation is at one of the area’s highest hotels providing comfort and breathtaking scenery after a day of adventure.
Day 4-5: Usambara Mountains – Magoroto Forest Estate
The Magoroto Forest Estate, situated 850 meters above sea level in the Eastern Usambara Mountains, is a serene haven surrounded by dense tropical rainforest. Its picturesque campground lies beside a tranquil freshwater lake, offering a perfect blend of nature and relaxation. On your first day, embark on a guided hike along one of Magoroto’s scenic trails to explore beautiful waterfalls. On the following day, enjoy a variety of activities such as boat rides, swimming, fishing, birdwatching, hiking, horse riding, or mountain biking. Whether you seek adventure or a peaceful retreat, Magoroto Forest Estate provides an unforgettable experience in the heart of Tanzania’s Eastern Usambara Mountains
Day 6-9: Saadani National Park
Saadani National Park, a unique coastal gem in Tanzania, lies between Dar es Salaam and Tanga. It is the only national park along the East African coast, offering a rare combination of thrilling safaris and relaxing tropical beach experiences in one destination. During your visit, spot waterbucks, gazelles, giraffes, warthogs, hippos, crocodiles, and baboons. With a bit of luck, you may also encounter elephants, lions, and leopards. Safaris can be enjoyed by car, on foot, or even by boat, providing a versatile and unforgettable wildlife adventure against the backdrop of pristine coastal scenery.
Day 10: Flight to Dar es Salaam and Outbound International Flight Home
Today marks the final day of your incredible Tanzanian adventure.
